Mormon Temples; Pay to Praise

Mormon Temple Changes and the Entrance Fee

I have been to many Mormon temples. My first time going to the temple was a strange experience, to say the least. You get a new name that they claim is your real name in heaven. You put on a poncho and get anointed with oil. You go through a series of learnings and covenant making, as well as learn “The true order of prayer”.   I always wondered….. If Mormons know the “True order of prayer”, then why don’t we pray the true way outside the temple?

Now the internet is full of websites that you can go to and learn exactly what goes on in a Mormon temple, as well as recordings people have made by sneaking in a camera to film what goes on. I can tell you this….. Most of what I have seen on the internet, is accurate. I have watched the recordings people have made and sure enough, the recordings were definitely done inside a Mormon temple. Mormons will tell you they can’t talk about what goes on in the temple because it is sacred, but inside the temple you can talk about anything and everything that is done. Here is the kicker….. there aren’t people inside the temple to ask questions to. At least that has always been my experience. You go through all of the ceremonies and rituals and you end up in a room to pray and be very quiet. You only talk in a whisper. It’s not a place I ever felt I could walk up to someone and say….. “What the heck was that all about in that ritual we did at such and such time?”   You don’t feel like you can ask anyone because everyone is sitting very quietly in a truly beautiful room and if someone is talking, they are whispering with the person they came to the temple with. And quite frankly…. If you do try to engage in a conversation of about a ritual, they probably won’t know anything because the church doesn’t teach anything about what goes on in the temple.

It was normal where I come from to attend a Temple Prep class before you go to the temple. You don’t learn anything in this prep class, absolutely nothing. All because you can’t talk about what goes on in the temple unless you are inside. But then you get inside and there aren’t teachers or anyone other than old people that stand by doors to direct you where to go.

So why do I bring all of this up????

I bring all of this up because we read in Church History Volume 4, Chapter 11, page 208….

“[Page 208]

Now the purpose in Himself in the winding up scene of the last dispensation is that all things pertaining to that dispensation should be conducted precisely in accordance with the preceding dispensations.

And again, God purposed in Himself that there should not be an eternal fullness until every dispensation should be fulfilled and gathered together in one, and that all things whatsoever, that should be gathered together in one in those dispensations unto the same fullness and eternal glory, should be in Christ Jesus; therefore He set the ordinances to be the same forever and ever, and set Adam to watch over them, to reveal them from heaven to man, or to send angels to reveal them.”Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14).”

The BOLD sentences/phrases I made bold to make them stand out. The above paragraph can be found here from BYU. https://byustudies.byu.edu/content/volume-4-chapter-11

The Mormon church itself says the ordinances are set to be the same forever and ever, and for Adam to watch over them.

I have spoken with older Mormons, of the grandparent age, and I have heard them say they remember when the temple ceremonies/ordinances were different. I have heard of naked touching, oaths with punishments of slashing your throat and bowels, etc… The older generation has told me many of the changes. Just this year, the Mormon church announced changes to the temples ordinances AGAIN!!! Why the changes? Well, I have not been to the temple to see them for myself, but it is being reported of covenant changes to be more pleasing to the current generation. If Mormons claim the ordinances were set fourth in heaven and are to be the same forever and ever, then why do Mormon leaders change the ceremonies and ordinances? The Mormon church leaders will never tell us. If anything is questioned, the church leaders will say it has all been revealed to them through revelation. Well, I call bull crap on that because they already teach that the temple ordinances are the same forever and ever.

Mormon Temples also require that any Mormon entering the temple must be in good standing with the church. Basically follow it’s teachings. However, one of the biggest things that will keep someone out of the temple, is the mandatory 10% tithing you must pay. If you don’t give the Mormon Church 10% of your income, you cannot enter the temple; which means you also cannot be saved, and you cannot enter and worship in the most sacred of places to Mormons. You must pay this entrance fee if you want to praise and to be saved.

I know enough from the Bible that changing things from the way God intended them is what leads to apostacy. The Mormon church will continue to change to be more appealing to the current generation at the time. The Mormon church leaders will hide behind the phrase similar to… “The Lord reveals these things to us.”   I believe Mormon church leaders are trying to find ways to keep its members from leaving the church so they don’t and won’t answer real questions its followers have.

I encourage you to look more into the Mormon temple changes through out the different time periods of the church. If the oaths, and covenants were truly from God or Jesus Christ, they wouldn’t change. I will be saved by grace; not by following religious leaders that change to modern times so they can appeal to the masses.

Happy Studies!!!
